Re-building the college platoon

By May of 1982 Lieutenant Austin L. Fernando took charge of re-building the college platoon and soon was to be seen the rebirth of glorious tenure in college’s cadeting history. College platoon was led by Colonel (Rtd.) F. F. Ramesh Manjula Fernando RSP BSc. (Def) psc SLASR, a young school boy sergeant who proceeded on to engrave his name in history books of Sri Lanka Army with gallant and valor he exhibited in theater of battle. The young officer who passed out from Kothalawala Defence University joined Sri Lanka Singha Regiment and goes down in memory lane to be a vital pillar commanding the besieged Jaffna Fort (1990) be held for months when all his supply and communication lines were cut off from enemy.
