Curriculum
Physical fitness is part of the cadets' routine throughout the program. The objective is to strengthen mental & physical fitness of the child. It also helps to develop listening skills, agility, flexibility, muscle strengthening, body balance & team work. There are two PT cycles with six exercises in each.
Squad Drill is a time-tested laboratory for developing leadership skills. The Emphasis will be laid on correct bearing, marching, saluting and fire-arms drill. It takes concentration and diligence to master the squad drill techniques. A properly executed smooth squad march reflects the professionalism and standard of a cadet platoon.
Teamwork is something our cadets will unquestionably have to apply to various scenarios in their futures, whether it’s academically, sociably, or in their careers. As young people start to learn the value of working in a team, they discover interpersonal ways of thinking. This, in turn, teaches them how to socialize and work well with others. During this course, cadets will go through many confidence building activities individually and as a team.
Map reading is an interesting, useful skill to possess as a civilian, it can broaden your horizons and give you safe access to anywhere in the world specially in emergency situations where you have no access to power or tech. A cadet needs to be proficiency at map reading and navigation, it also helps him to experience the outdoors safely and with confidence. All Cadets are trained to master map reading during this course and go on orienteering into the jungle or the hills which is a fun, and a competitive activity.
Field craft is an all-encompassing term for lots of different skills and activities. The training will typically start with the basics of personal camouflage and concealment, stealthy movement in the field, and learning to work as part of a team to accomplish certain tasks. They also learn about important life hacks, setting up your camp in the field, non-verbal communication skills, observation, working as part of a team, strategic planning, cooperation and collaboration.
Cadets generally take keen interest in weapon training and firing because it is one of the exciting activities you’ll get to do as a school boy. It is a legal privilege that only a cadet can witness. Learning about target shooting will teach you a number of skills, most importantly discipline and safety awareness. It also brings with it a great sense of achievement. As a cadet you will learn to shoot accurately using a range of cadet rifles but you will not be allowed to shoot any rifle until you have demonstrated a full understanding of the use of the rifle, self composure and the safety procedures.
In the event of an emergency, a defense cadet will have the knowledge and confidence to deliver potentially life-saving assistance. They are taught with a mixture of both practical and theory about first-aid. Learning how to examine a casualty, familiarizing basic life support, learn how to control bleeding and trauma, treating burns and scalds as well as assisting a choking individual, and many more life saving aids.
"Ignorance of law excuses no one" It is a legal principle holding that a person who is unaware of a law may not escape liability for violating that law merely by being unaware of its content. A defense cadet is equipped with basic knowledge of civil law in the country. Narcotics prevention aims to heighten awareness of the threats of drug abuse, encourage cadets to understand the importance of drug prevention and to prevent self and others against becoming victims to drug abuse.
A defense cadet is an all-rounder. He is been trained to handle emergency situations at home or in the vicinity. During this course cadets are educated about the role and importance of civil defense training at times of disasters like earthquake, firebreak down, weather disasters, accidents etc. Training will we conducted by professionals with theoretical and practical knowledge, which will come handy in mitigating human and material damages in day to day life.
