Sgt. D. T. L. Wettasinghe

Sgt. D. T. L. Wettasinghe RWP, RSP, USP, CR – then college platoon Sergeant led the platoon to assessment camp held at Rantembe. The young Sergeant post to his GCE advance level studies served a short tenure with college tutorial staff before enlisting himself with 49th intake of SLMA, Diyatalawa January 1999. Commissioned in June 2002 young Second Lieutenant joins with the elite Commando Regiment of Sri Lanka Army. The valiant officer actively participated in Eastern & Northern Humanitarian missions. In September 2007, owing to wounds suffered in battle the officer under went an amputation of his right leg below the knee, but soon to recover in rejoin his regiment to serve the nation. Calling a closure to a gallant career, Maj. (Rtd.) Wettasinghe bid farewell to his regiment & SL Army in April 2019 on medical grounds.
