Lieutenant A. V. A. Perera.

The senior platoon attended assessment camp at Diyatalawa under Lieutenant A. V. A. Perera. At a camp that was held at Gampaha in February, the Junior Cadets under Lieutenant I. P. E. Dias secured first place in Squad Drill. It is further recorded later that year, the following Junior Cadets took part in the all Island Small Bore Competition for Junior Cadets and scored 430 points out of a possible 500 points. The team consisted of Sgt. Stork R. A., L/Sgt. de Niese D., cadets Young H. W., D’Olivera Myron, Muttukrishna Dinkar, Livera M., Fuard M., and Knower S.. Their score was on of the highest as seen in said competition and hence was seen complimented by Capt. (later Major) R. S. Jayawickreme, Weapons Training Officer of the Battalion.
